In 2020, The Ohio CIP Initiative received a three year federal grant from Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to build upon the CLFC programming being implemented with three participating ODRC institutions. The Second Chance Initiative provided the opportunity to incorporate a virtual component to the current programming that allowed children and family members to participate alongside their incarcerated parent during five sessions. So far over 100 adult and youth participants have been able to learn, practice communication skills, and heal together to strengthen their relationships.
